Our Community Hub

left

Here to support families and the wider community.

Welcome to our Community Hub.  The hub consists of a dedicated community room, the use of a sports hall and outdoor areas, including a multi games area and large sports field.  Although the space is part of Dukesgate Academy, it aims to serve both the school and wider community and to reach people of all ages.

We know that communities are strongest together and this forms a central part of our hub ethos.  We are committed to building positive relationships with the community the hub serves and to enabling community members to act on things that they care about.

Our aims are to:

  • Help our local community lead healthier, happier and better-connected lives.
  • Reduce isolation among our parents/carers and the wider community.
  • Offer a safe and supportive environment, in which local residents can thrive.
  • Promote change driven by both the school and the  community.
  • Provide  opportunities  for community members to get involved, participate, volunteer, learn and to develop their skills and talents.
  • to improve social community cohesion.

The Dukesgate Community Hub is run by our Community Development Officer: Judith Richens who can be contacted on the following e mail address: communityhub@dukesgate.co.uk

Have Your say

Community voice is very important to us.  We regularly sample the views and opinions of the community to be sure that we focus on the things that matter to you.  Look out for the monthly community newsletter and follow the school on social media to see what we are currently working on, events that are coming up or things you can get involved in.

Age Friendly Salford Intergenerational Project

The aims are:
  • To utilise Dukesgate Academy as a Community Hub, a place where older people can come and participate in wellbeing activities
  • To bring together young and older (50+) people so they can forge an understanding, respect, integrate and learn from each other
  • To offer opportunities for young and older people to develop their personal skills and knowledge
How Can You Help?
We need you to identify older people who may benefit and let Miss Richens or Miss Ellis know by 23.1.26.
Older people aged 50+
    • Family members, neighbours, someone you may help to support
    • Someone who lives on their own, they may not go out very much, they may not see many people during the week
    • Someone who may have limited mobility e.g. Use a walking stick, walking frame, sometimes have falls
    • A person who maybe frail, not have much energy, does not eat very well and may struggle to look after themselves
    • An older person who may have difficulty communicating
The project will include a coffee morning and some work shops and will be a chance for older people and their family members to spend time together.

Other one off events will be advertised here.
